Thanks for sharing the Related Sites plugin Jack!

I was wondering how you were doing it :-) I should have asked a while back. I use Zemanta for related sites but it requires manual interaction! Looks like this one is Superb for more automated approach

I have been using related website plugin for a month and it really increase the traffic of my blog, but to be honest, this plugin’s true potential is still unknown, since the traffic that it had increase in a months is not much.

But still is worth the try… may be you should see if there is a way to actually use this plugin to it fullest potential.

I’ve read that the Cross Linker plugin is horrible performance-wise… to the level that it creates thousands of database queries. See:

I use it on some of my sites, but it concerns me. Of course I’m too lazy to go look at the database queries.

@Bad – Typically your direct traffic is going to pale in comparison to the search engine effect with this plugin. It is an indirect benefit: the links get you higher rankings which brings in the serious search traffic.

Direct traffic from the sites linking in themselves should be considered icing on the cake…a bonus!

@Lazy – I hadn’t heard that. Will check it out.

@Alex – Yep – that’s how I do it. Looks harder to implement than setting up the plugin after installing. Takes a few minutes and you have links to further valuable content on your site and others’ sites.

Great for readers. Great for traffic. Great for SEO.

I would like to know how the related websites plugin helps in SEO? Don’t you think automated link exchanges is strictly forbidden by google?

Thanks for the link to the related sites plugin. I had seen it before but didn’t act on it. Now that I see that you are using it, hey, why not give it a try?
