This question brought to you by Tim at Home Search TV.
Which is better – Ping.fm or Hellotxt?
They do similar things. They allow you to update a lot of your social network at the same time. Your microblogs like Twitter and Pownce. Your Facebook and Myspace pages.
I say the best of the two is the one you really use. And not the way most people use them. Not the way they were probably intended for use by their creators.
It is how you use services like these that make all the difference.
Quality is better than quantity. Community trumps spam accounts. Being a real person with a real following on all your social sites is better than being a fake and using multiple accounts to post gigabytes of tripe – hoping someone, somehow is actually going to click your links.
One may do something different than the other.
But the reason I use Hellotxt over PingFM? Simply because that’s what I used first, it gets the job done, and all I needed was the ability to update all my microblogs and other accounts with real information that my real followers and fans appreciate, which includes mostly things that make me no money at all.
The big payoff comes when you’ve nurtured and grown a collective following that will listen when you do drop a profit bomb with either service across your network. People follow those they respect and identify with. Build respect and identity, and you can lead them anywhere you’d like them to go.
Use tools like Ping.FM or Hellotxt as a means to that end, and you will succeed in your quest to move crowds digitally and profitably.
