What’s up with all the Twitter posts?

by Jack Humphrey on Apr 13

If you’ve been on the blog the last couple weeks you’ve probably noticed I’ve been posting Twitter updates or “recaps” of my Tweets.  Well, I’ve heard from several of you and have come to the conclusion that you’d rather keep Twitter and FTR a little more separate from each other.

Yesterday’s weekly update really stunk because it was a whole week’s worth of tweets in one post.  I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen again.  If you’re curious, the plugin I am using to integrate Twitter into Wordpress is Alex King’s “Twitter Tools.”

Hey, I like testing everything.  And as much as I like it when something works out well, I also do tests that don’t go over so well with you.  But that’s one part of how I am able to gather for you the intel I post about here.

So, daily and weekly Twitter updates are gone as of today.

Here’s some more news:

Local Search Blog Network Launches Tomorrow

Our local search blog network is launching tomorrow.  Here’s the webinar we recorded last Thursday.

Wordpress Plugin

I found a cool looking plugin (haven’t tried it on the blog yet) that might be worth looking into.  It’s called Zemanta and it helps you load your content with recommended links, tags, photos, and other things as you write your posts.  Something like it came out last year and kind of fizzled away.  Maybe this one will stick!

If you have used Zemanta to enhance your post content, please let us know what you think of it below!

Still getting tons of followers through TweetBrain!

Check out the TweetBrain video I did last week.  People are writing in telling me of similar results to mine.  Plus it’s just a fun way to use Twitter.

I can see how the tweet updates were a little much. I wouldn’t give up on them entirely. What about archiving them as posts on a different page? It would separate FTR from the updates and people who do get a use out of them can happily navigate to the page. What do you think?

@Chris – Would be great to be able to do that. Losing good tweets to the stream where some good resources are passed on is a problem. Even such a page would have to be cropped at some point though or become unwieldy itself.

There is nothing wrong with trying new things, keep doing a a process of elimination makes things better. It’s ok
