I visited 5 of the top blogs in my niche, took the time to learn the owners name, and really prowled around. Then I did a 'site review' on them. I looked at them not as competitors, but simply contributors to a shared passion and body of knowledge. Having that point of view, and giving the props and links freely and first, has had huge paybacks in terms of links, reciprocation, and new relationships. This is now part of my posting routine. I made this edgy video about Ali Brown - and put a straight (non-affiliate) link to her - she must be kinda hard to get hold of because I was almost certain she'd be howling at me by now?
