Wake Up Call: Web 2.0 Wouldn’t Exist Without Marketers

Mashable writer has ass handed to him by John Reese.

I enjoy Mashable for discovering new social sites and all, but this guy had it coming and John Reese puts forth an excellent, eloquent argument against the anti-marketers of the web. Read it!

People always want something for nothing. We have been fighting the war of advertising between content providers and viewers since before I put of my first big website in ‘95. I don’t expect it to end anytime soon.

I appreciate your informative site.

Thanks for this post. It was intesting to see how much traffic blog rush received. Wow!

I also wanted to let you know that I clicked on some of your tags from my feedreader and on your site and noticed 404 errors.

Interesting rant on Mr. Reese’s part. His follow up post, where he takes a higher road, is even more interesting.

While the Mashable guys might have had it coming, Mr. Reese can see their point of view, some of it anyway, and feels that engaging in a slap fight, no matter how satisfying, doesn’t get anyone anywhere.
