Michel,

You are absolutely right. Pressure can actually help you avoid procrastination.

I have bookmarked this.

<em>Joseph Ratliff's last blog post..<a href='http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/WelcomeToJosephRatliffname/~3/247395260/' rel="nofollow">How to be a millionaire in 34 minutes….</a></em>

Great read, I almost bookmarked it for later reading but Jacks note, "The Close" made me stop everything I was in the process of doing and read it now.

Talk about a low pressure close, very nice Jack

"Note from Jack: If you don’t have time to read this completely, make sure you bookmark it and come back later. It’s that important."

Mr. Fortin always brings quality knowledge to the table. As I always say, You've gotta motivate people with pleasure just as much as pain. Use the carrot and the stick and you will find yourself as a master of influence. "Impending doom" is always a good motivator aka "buy now or else".

"Heaven if you do, Hell if you don't" If you can make people feel this on an emotional level whenever you are trying to influence them you will win. Make them feel a sense of loss by not giving into you. Whatever you are offering has to be worth far more than what you are charging for it to the client for "their reasons" not yours. Yours don't matter. How is it gonna fulfill their want or need. Preferably a want. As I say in my blogs, Wants and Needs are different. People usually listen to wants over needs. You NEED to go to the gym at 5AM before work, but you WANT to sleep an extra 2 hours. Fullfil wants, not needs. Hopeful the WANT you fill is a NEED as well. But it ususally doesn't matter.

cool post, long though.

This post contains one of my most repeated Fortin quotes, "Procrastination is the biggest killer of sales."

Another is, "If you give a chance for your prospects to procrastinate, they will. Guaranteed.” Michel Fortin

I've been talking about this a lot lately on my blog (Michel's my copy coach). Feel free to stop by tomorrow, I've got something big in store for addressing customer procrastination: http://www.stephensblog.com

Very excellent reminder of what attracts and what repels customers. I have to say I always avoid the salesmen who try to get me to make a commitment practically as soon as my foot is through the door. The most effective salesman we ever met was a furniture salesman. He spoke with us when we came in the store to find out what our needs were and what type of furniture we were looking for. He pointed us in the right direction and then "disappeared" only to reappear at the exact right moment to answer a question we had or to direct us to a different area of the store. He took his time, answered all our questions, and gave us our space. When we were ready to talk price, he took us to a room where we could sit down comfortably around a table and sit and discuss pricing, financing, etc. It was a great experience. Why? Because he was more centered on us and our needs than on his commission check. The result? We purchased all of our furniture from him--furnishing 4 rooms in the house. We felt like we got a great deal with great service. He got a great commission check!
