There’s no doubt you’ve heard about the new regulations by the FTC concerning endorsements and testimonials in advertising.  Bloggers have been posting and people are speculating in forums about them.  But very few people really understand how these regulations will affect their online businesses.

You might also have noticed that I didn’t have an immediate, deep response to the new guidelines.  That’s because I’m not a legal expert. And I don’t panic about this stuff right off  the bat because I’ve been around long enough to know that one of my associates (who know more about this stuff than I do) would come out with a guide if given time.

Well that time is now.  Len Thurmond is someone I trust to help me understand legal stuff concerning online business and marketing.  He is the creator and owner of AutoWebLaw Pro.  (affiliate link)

Len has just finished a pretty comprehensive guide (and rant) about the new regulations the FTC has just recently put out.

The guide is totally free and is designed to help us know what to be concerned with while answering many of the questions we all have about how these regulations will affect our marketing.

You can even get a copy of the full text of “16 CFR Part 255 – Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising” from a link in the guide as well.

Protect yourself and your business by taking the time to get up to speed on the new FTC regulations in Len’s great, free guide.

As Len says, the new FTC regulations are too much and too little.

At a (very far) stretch an argument could be made to extend the ruling to product placement advertising. Doesn’t Apple rake in millions / billions as a flow-on effect from “good guys” that we, as viewers, identify with in movies & TV, who use Apple products?

I’ve heard about this but never really understood what it meant until I read this. Thanks a lot Jack.
