I am happy to hear more of the older folks are getting involve with Twitter. It broadens our potential traffic, right?

I knew it was only a matter of time for Twitter to get really popular. I tweet all the time and I love it!

I can’t believe how big they have gotten. I still don’t use it very much but it takes me a bit to fall in line with the others.

The weirdest part is I hear how most of their new users are of an older generation (40-50 year olds)…

Which I guess makes sense as they’d be the slowest to adapt to new tech…but this is definitely interesting.

The new generation will live and die getting referrals and business through the internet, things are just changing!

Those are some staggering numbers. At the current rate of growth, both Twitter and Facebook will max in growth fairly quickly because there are only so many Internet users on the planet! Also, this goes to show the power of social media websites as a business. 175 employees can have a business that supports 100 million users. If these numbers are not convincing a business to take advantage of the current social media craze, then they apparently don’t know how to adapt to change. Social media is a part of the world in news, business, politics, statistics, and eventually it will expand to all industries.

Twitter still needs to figure out how to monetize their service. I know they got Promoted Tweets, but let’s face that ain’t gonna rake in hundreds of millions. If I was Twitter, i’d focus on having sponsored tweets show up on people’s timelines related to the tweets they’re tweeting out. They would lose some users, but simply have a premium account that would not contain these sponsored tweets – I’m sure they could easily make billions a year with this strategy
