Article directories are a dime a dozen. If you are going to do it the hard way, meaning you’d rather submit one at a time and not use the best article syndication service I have ever used, then focus on submitting your articles to the top 21 article directories below.
You won’t benefit from the long tail effect of submitting to the other article directories available, but you will at least hit the big ones with the highest Alexa and Google rankings.

Not that I know of. The most advanced article directory out there is EzineArticles.com and if he doesn’t have one (not 100% sure) probably no one else does. Would be good to hear from anyone who knows for sure on this – let us know!

Thanks Jack, I find GoArticles to be a whole lot better than EzineArticles, the submission is easier and I rarely get my article rejected for some strange reason.
Ezine Articles is by far the best if you submit good articles regular then you should be ok i have never had and rejected
There is no doubt that Ezine is the best but I have recently had a lot of success with articlesbase. Articles submitted there will rank really well but I still think that Ezine articles out rank them. Only just though.

If you want a free backlink with pagerank 7 follow these steps:
1.- Register in mtv.com
2.- Sign In
3.- Create a blog post in the blog section
4.- Post your link with the anchor text inside the post you create.

Is it not pointless submitting to more than one directory unless you spin the article? WHat about the duplicate content issue?
Ben – that’s only if you are looking to game the search engines. Article syndication is intended to get your link in front of as many people as possible and to hopefully get your articles picked up and published by other website owners. The short sighted only see article syndication as a tool to manipulate rankings. The winners in article syndication are the ones who worry about getting their articles picked up and used on sites where their target market surfs and clicks. Dupe content issue only affects content that was submitted after Google finds your original. So if you want to rank on your site for said article, you need to make sure Google sees it first before syndicating it around the web.

I heard by getting articles from directories with lower page rank than yours can benefit your site by showing up first in rankings before the directory. That is like getting a double bonus, free content, and better positioning!

Great list, I’ve only been using Ezine and goarticles so I will give the others a go. Ezine is great but they are taking ages to review articles recently, up to two weeks in some cases. I’ve reached the review stage for Platinum on there so hopefully it should improve if I pass.

My article directory is the best one in Ireland – well it is the only one in Ireland. But it is for Irish interested only, this way is the only way for me to keep it clean and long lasting.

@Tyler – yeah you may want to put the articles on your site first to get spidered by Google and get credit as the original source and then submit them to the article directories. If you don’t care about your site having the original, then just submit to those directories right away when your articles are ready.
Well done Jack…good work, as it is really hard to find a single place where you can get them all listed. Of course article marketing plays a big role in getting traffic and back links.

Ezine in my opinion is the best by far. I submited one article to get referrals for the chitika referal program. I have gotten 5 url clicks in 2 and half days on a 500 word article that took me 20 minutes to write. Soon i will be in the bank.
Really well done. Blogs like this one that we marketeers need. It takes lots of time to find the right place to post articles. And nothing bits a good article.
This is a new article directory that’s recently been launched, and one which seems to have some potential. There are too many article directories around which are only in it for the adsense revenue and will accept any old rubbish given.
The directory I linked to – http://netpressarticles.com – seems to be a lot more stringent about what it will accept. I’ve tried it with several articles, all of which (deliberately, to test them) failed at least 1 of their guidelines. Every one was thrown out for not meeting guidelines.
Now, it might just be because they’re new and are trying to discourage the spam community, but I think in time if they keep this level of due diligence going then they could rise to the top. An article directory where only quality articles are published? Who’d have thought it possible!?

I do not agree with your list of top article directory. I think ezinearticles, articlesbase, buzzle should go first while others may follow. I totally disagree with the list of your top article directory.
