Facebook is massive.  We know that.  Almost everyone you know has a Facebook page these days.

It’s the stats coming out of the Facebook phenomenon that really show us to what degree the social network has infiltrated our personal and professional lives.

Today we talk about the impact of Facebook from the perspective of marketers and how we can all better understand Facebook users (everybody) to get more attention for our own sites.

In other news, you won’t believe what countries beat the United States in internet speed!  Including some you may have never heard of before!

I want to move to Aland Islands just as soon as I find them on Google Earth!

At the end of the day it still comes down to sales and opt ins. I don’t care how big Facebook is, if I can’t drag social followers out of a social site and into my email list, then I am uninterested.

So far the best real numbers I have come from Travis Campbell (/MarketingProfessor on YouTube). His YouTube channel traffic converts into email subscribers 27% of the time.

We are going to do a side by side test of my two best blogs, one with GFC and the other with FB gadgets. Let’s see which produces better email conversions and above all sales. Putting this together now Jack, will have real data for a 3 month period over the course of this summer.

    Aland islands!? See you there!

I’ve tried putting up Facebook pages, but haven’t had much success.. guess I need more of a blueprint to work out what to do. Thanks for the interview, very enlightening!!

I am curious about your results, too, Chris. I began using Facebook to direct traffic to my blog yesterday, and I am very happy with the results. I created a new FB account just for this and I was very pleased with the outcome. By the way, I live in a country that beats the United States. The countries that are not so strict about pirate products, warrez and so on have invested in their speed, as no client waits 2 days to download illegal movies. If you Americans buy everything, they considered you do not need such great speed… Funny, but really, take a look at the countries and compare the top with the top countries where such things are tolerated.

Facebook truly has the ability to make you more popular, win you more friends and influence more people. Social networking websites such as Facebook present us with an invaluable opportunity to reach a whole new generation of supporters. I particularly adore the viral nature of Facebook which helps users to garner information from their friends and their interactions. Truly Incredible!!

I’m just getting into FB and Blogger. I haven’t had much success converting it into my email list as you put it, but I am reading your ebook, Authority Black Book and look forward hearing the results of your comparison.

Many entrepreneurs use the status message as a way to get their PR messages out faster, to inform people about blog articles they have written, to ask for referrals, or simply to stand up for political or social issues.

Facebook is insane – I think I read the average user spends over 20 minutes a day on the site?

With so many people and the viral nature of easily sharing and liking pages and posts, FB shouldn’t be overlooked as a method you should at least try in your campaigns.

@ Chris: I read your post with great interest. Sales and Opt-ins…there’s no one perfect way to drive sales with all the new technology everyone has at his or her disposal. I have actually seen FB groups centered around a specific demographic do quite well in both sales and (eventually) new distributors/partners if there is a network marketing opportunity attached to a great product. I have also seen it work well for direct sales. The manner in which you set up a buying environment differs depending on the demographic. Every day, we are finding new ways to use the technology we have available. I’ve written this a few times today…but we’re in the midst of a great shift in online marketing. Everything is changing, and the new, successful salesperson/business owner has to understand not just the market but each individual.

As it is with all sales, we have to set up an environment that will encourage purchasing…and it CAN indeed be done straight from Facebook…even if you don’t get the email address before the product/service is purchased. The first time I saw it, I almost died on my computer. I was shocked. Now, I understand how to do it and am setting up my first trial.

    I’ll report back too.

    This should be fun. ;)
