I’m no programmer, but with the plethora of Twitter apps available today, I have to think it’s not that hard to program something to work with Twitter. There are gazillions of 3rd party apps that plug into Twitter to do all sorts of things.
Many bloggers make great long lists of the apps they find, but probably haven’t tested each app thoroughly themselves. I believe the Twitterverse should be on the lookout for places that have some editorial standard for the 3rd party Twitter apps they list.
I found one tonight. Twi5.com seems to care a bit more about the apps they list on their site. Now that it’s no big deal every time a Twitter app launches (it happens 5.5 times every 3 seconds or something) we need a filter!
“twi5 is a one stop place for all the coolest twitter apps. We aren’t just a dumping ground for twitter apps. Only the coolest and most useful twitter apps are profiled so that twitter users can easily find the best suited apps.”
Twi5.com wants to be the filter for your Twitter apps addiction. They’re really new, so if they screw up and start listing a bunch of junky “me too” Twitter apps, just know I reviewed them before that happened!
The guys there seem cool though and dedicated to finding the best and weeding out the rest. Somebody had to do it!

I’m always interested in anything that will help me make sense of Twitter; will check out Twi5. Here’s one I’m currently playing with, though it goes beyond Twitter: Filtrbox. It’s sometimes described as “Google alerts on steroids.”

All the apps I’ve found at Twi5 have been excellent. They are a great resource for twitter apps and do an excellent job weeding out the bad ones.
Glad to see someone is putting together and testing out all those twitter apps.
Although I joined Twitter, I must admit that I’m fairly new to have and have very little knowledge despite all the buzz I hear. Therefore, I welcome any information provided.
