Headline #1 was created at 4:00 in the morning by a tired, uninspired copywriter.
Headline #2 was created by someone who had just gotten out of the bathroom after reading WIRED Magazine.
Magazines have the best headlines.
Taking a dump provides you with time to read stuff you’d never allow yourself to read otherwise during work time. Like ads. And product reviews.
Sometimes the copy has already been written for you by a high-priced copywriter or editor of a mega magazine. Now you can tell all your friends you have a high-priced team of copywriters on your team. And they only cost you a subscription fee or a trip to the Dentist to steal mags from the waiting room.
The product? Blog Talk Monitor – Released, well, just now!

That is hilarious! But oh so true. I don’t read magazines while taking dump, but I do get a lot of inspiration even from reading the headlines of those tabloid rags while waiting in line at the grocery store.

Great points Jack I use magazine ads and headlines for ideas quite a bit.

My favourite place to read
Nothing else to do but stare into space, so might as well make some good use of it…
LOL
And, the best headlines are in the best selling magazines (Cleo, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Prevention, etc.) (recommended for males in particular – cos they rarely read these sorts of magazines
)
Here’s one I prepared earlier
“Real Life Diet Tips From Surprise Guests” (prevention mag website)
“Real Life SEO Tips From Surprise Guests”
“Real Life Social Media Marketing Tips From Surprise Guest Jack Humphrey”
“Real Life Link Building Strategies From 34 Successful Below-The-Radar SEO Consultants”
etc etc etc
Great tip Jack.

Dude — a great reminder of the power of “the classics” (like the National Enquirer) as a headline swipe file on steroids.
But also…kudos to you for having the nads to say “take a dump!” in your headline! Bravo!

lol – I couldn’t help it. Was in the mood for bathroom humor.
Good ideas.
Poor taste does get clicks doesn’t it?
Not a good commentary on our degrading society.
Totally funny man.
When I saw the headline, I knew what it sounded like but I didn’t think you were going to really take it there.
I was thinking more along the lines of “brain dump” or something like that…
You made my night.
Thanks for the funny yet inspiring post.
