&quot;It’s better to be different than it is to be better.&quot;
This is very true in the Home Based Business market...

		<description>Sound advice there, Michel.

Many people take an entirely different approach to niche marketing. They avoid competition. I always say that the more competitive a niche, the better -- if you are to start a blog.

More bloggers, more blogs will link to you. Links become much easier.

That happens with &lt;em&gt;unique&lt;/em&gt; and great quality information.

		<description>Really good advice, Michel

I am looking at adding affiliate marketing to my income stream and you have caught my attention with focusing on a niche rather than a broad range.

Thanks for such a well written blog.</description>

		<description>Spot on Michael!

I really have learned from experience how true this is and anyone who is sat around pondering which way to go then this seriously IS the way!

A few years ago you could get away with having the broad focus, but now, the competition is SO fierce you stand to have less than a cat in hells chance of generalizing.

Now, there is micro-nicheing and there is getting a little bit silly so my 2penneth is be sensible, make sure there IS a market but micro it down to an audience... just so you don&#039;t end up marketing to yourself... that can get lonely! =0&gt;

Best wishes
Lewis

		<description>So, the more narrow your niche is the more money you will make? Sticking to a few high quality products and excellent content is the way to go.

		<description>Michel!

This is a post, which is so good quality, that it really hit me and it was a pleasure to read ( and to learn).

The idea of brand building with a specialized, niche marketing is just great. And your slogans, like &quot;don`t be the best, be different&quot; includes the very idea of marketing, both on-line and off-line.

You went through a row of benefits from niche-marketing. I would add one: the number of returning customers, bookmarkings and recommendations will grow, which makes good for the brand image.

And, what a truth: &quot; when you narrow the niche, you will grow your marketing power, and decrease the competition&quot;.

Thanks again Michel, just great job!

		<description>Excellent advice. I think people go caught up in looking for &quot;niches&quot; at one point and spent all there time looking for the unexplored niche with ready and waiting buyers. That is not the point.

Play in the niches that are popular and already have people buying. Then get specific. In the beginning &quot;overview&quot; type info is popular. But then it is SPECIFIC information people are looking for. If you are the one giving the specific info people are looking for in a big, money making niche... you can clean up.

You don&#039;t need tons of products that confuse the buyer. Focus on the specific product they are looking for and give it to them.

I used to have hundreds of affiliate products I was interested in promoting. Then I took an ax to them and narrowed it down to a few good ones. My visitors want the BEST, right? And I must deliver.

So narrowing focus goes for everything you do.
