Contrary to popular opinion, I decided to create my own Animoto with a picture of me in it.
This post could be entitled “How to look like someone who knows a lot about video editing and production without knowing much about either,” but that is just way too long.
Tips on Using Animoto
I went too fast! The little snippets of testimonials you see the the video above are too small to read. Animoto recommends a fairly large picture size in order to see detail in the final production.
I would go back and do those screen captures a bit larger so that at least the headlines showed up larger in the video. As it is, you can tell something is being said, just not what.
Don’t use large text blocks of any kind. Headlines and very short snippets of quotes or other text are all you’ll have time to read in one of these Animoto videos.
The intro picture of me is blurry because of the original size uploaded as well. So smaller pics with poor resolution when blown up will turn out the way mine did.
All in all, I’d say you’ll produce a couple videos before you get the hang of what to upload and the sizes that work best for both resolution and clarity.
But for a tool that only requires you to upload pictures and choose some music, I can see lots of people blowing minds out there with promotional videos of all kinds. They can look like a million bucks with some planning and a bit more time than I spent, which wasn’t much!
