I am really digging this blogger, Pat McCarthy, over at Conversion Rater.
In this post he discusses 10 ways to increase your ad revenue. I generally like people who feel the same as I do and talk about things I am interested in. Human nature I guess, but this guy is spot on about [tag]ad revenue[/tag] and site [tag]monetization tactics[/tag].
“It’s unfortunate that a lot of the conventional wisdom for how to make money from advertising on a website or blog is to slap up Google Adsense and watch the money roll in. While there are many publishers who do make great money from Adsense, they are usually working very hard at it.”
Hooray! Adsense ain’t “all that” and people are finally starting to flat out state the facts.
Food for thought: How many extremely successful sites run simply Adsense anymore? Take a run through your bookmarks and check out your favorite big sites and blogs.
Yep – they are selling their OWN space and keeping ALL the money folks!
It is very rare these days to find a pure PPC-monetized site with no other profit strategy in place.
So why are people still thinking about building sites just for adsense? Laziness and ignorance I would bet.
