Link Building, Content Development for New Blogs

by Jack Humphrey on Apr 30

Today’s Traffic Report was rife with value.  A veritable smorgasbord of tasty tidbits for internet marketers!

To start, I gave a shorty on the most important things you need to focus on when starting a new blog/site.  There are tons of things one must do to start a site, but biting off the two chunks I share today on content development and link building will be among your chief concerns whenever you build any kind of site on the web.

Jim Stroud kicked in with some very killer links and news on SEO, a cool new Twitter tool you will love, the major importance of the new Facebook Like button and why you need to install it on your site immediately, and even a shorty on Hugo Chavez tweeting with Fidel Castro.  (Weird but relevant!)

Ahh, the joys of content creation and back link building … the ‘BIG 2′ for marketing anything online. Successful people do what’s difficult and necessary, not what’s fun and easy, and these 2 activities are critical for online success – no two ways about it.

I’m constantly looking to learn new strategies to assist me with these 2 tasks. Thanks for the helpful info, as always Jack …

    Best to you,
    Scott

I am definitely going to listen the show, however, I think somehow link building has come to a barrier. I mean, always the same techniques over and over again…People must work their way to find new ways for links, I recently read a great thread on a webmasters forum about a guy that created a website with some great content related to public institutions. The guy started emailing all the universities, public institutions etc that could link to him for the info presented, he got some great exposure in the end from those. I’ll go and search the thread for you to read, it’s quite a great reading. :)

Thanks a lot Jack for this useful stuff on Linkbuilding for a new blog. Social media Marketing on FaceBook and twitter is also gaining importance as it reflects the type of people reading the blog.

    I agree with Scott above.
Content creation and backlinking is tedious ..but needs to be done by someone.

Usually if you are like I was when I started my 1st blog 14 months ago that someone is you.
I have 2 blogs now and am looking to out source some of this stuff…but don’t trust anyone to care as much as I do about my business.
That’s the rub to out source.
    Who to trust.

If the Web does become “open” and the Like button gets properly integrated, soon there will be no need for link-building. Link-building is merely a simulation of a website’s natural growth in popularity. The Like button will replace what is now known as “link juice”. Popular online websites will make money, unknown and less popular websites won’t.

Thanks a ton for emphasizing on content development as a means for thoroughly developing effective blogs. Business and private entities seem to neglect this aspect to a great deal. These two basic aspects can definitely work wonders for a business if mastered well. I second this post.

    I second the motion…
after creating a site and applying good coding and marking and putting high quality content then its time for link building. In marketing they say that in business its 90% marketing and 10% product. :)
