As always, great insight into what I agree is a great model, I haven't heard of it as the 10/30 method, but it was introduced to me as the "Curation Method," and when done correctly, does provide great value to the web, as well as links back to the original pure folks who created the content, so they should quit whining and encourage others to adopt the method! They stand to win more than anybody else.

Jack, good points!

College literature textbooks are filled with short stories and plays written by someone else and curated by an English professor - no one looks down on that established practice. Art museums never claim to do the creating - just the collecting and display.

I agree that if curating is done wrong, the result is ugly.

But that's also true of 'pure' blogging!

This article is really an eye opener for me who is new to blogging, thanks to Jack and the supportive Team at Blogsucces dot com.

My opinion about this is that, it's really up to the blogger what route he would decide to go Pure or Curist blogging or both as Jack mentioned depending on his goal that he wanted to reach with the available resources at hand. Each person has a different approach and idea in many things. Some people love simple approach, others want complicated stuff. One single idea can be turned into hundreds of executions but a brilliant idea will remain original no matter how you tweak it to look different.

I cannot deny the fact that the main reason for me having a blog is to build a sustainable income. Which means that my blog will be for commercial consumption, having said that I wanted also to provide my readers a value for their time in visiting my blog, I wanted them to feel that the information they find in my blog is of Value that can help them in anyway. To me Value is all or nothing, as a consumer myself I expect every product or service that I avail specially if I pay for it, It must give value in return or else I will just discontinue using that service or product.

The same is true with Blogging, your reader does not really care if you blog for fun or for money as long as they feel that you are credible in what you offer with honesty and that there are some value to that offer the your reader needs.

The bottom line is, make your reader happy and you will be happy!

I've been wondering when paid blogging would first be mentioned - but is it any different to a PAID subscription service?

There's definitely a difference between aggregating and scraping. Curating is a great term for the strategy, while aggregation is a tactice which carries out that strategy.

I love this article because in my 1st blog above I set it up to see if I liked to blog and used mashup content from other sources as you say and I always give the Author credibility and say who wrote the content and then I add my comments on top of that.
I always try to be honest.I think it's important.
Without key word research my blog is near the top 4 mil world wide and does get me some leads now just from passion.
I also have all social sites connected with most of the right pluigins I think.
I am passionate about a number of things and that's what I blog about.
So that was my practice blog so to speak to see if I liked it and I do.
Now I'm joining blogSuccess to see how much I don't know and start my own attraction marketing blog done really right by following Jack and the gang.
Yup right now.

The gist of this whole thing is that purists will probably always be that way. There are plenty of things that I would not know about if someone didn't share them with me. I say, let others think how they will, and just keep moving forward.

My grandfather said that there are ideas out there (meaning in the universe) and those who move forward with the idea gain the benefit. Honestly, we give alot of credit to others for their creativity, as they should get it, but to think that they are the only ones with that idea or the only ones with good ideas is FALSE!

Being online is all about giving people what they want and like you say there are loads of people looking to make money with blogs without being an "authority" or "expert" so why not fill the need! Plus you have really been pushing value and quality hard to everyone and its a message you really can't miss in your videos!
There will always be those who want to keep the status quo and say "this is how we always do it" rather than move forward into new ways.

I am in a conversation about charging for blog posts on another blog and I LOVE the idea but people are in uproar - even though charging for news is now slowing coming into force online (well at least in the UK it is). Things change and we adapt or stay the same and our business suffers!
