What Makes You Stop And Take Notice?
I just watched the latest ad from Motorolla. To be honest, I have watched it several times. This is coming from a person who DVR’s most of what I watch, and I fast forward through most commercials unless it really catches my eye. Why has this one commercial had me coming back to watch several times? Well, one its funny…laugh out loud hilarious? No. Closet funny? Yes! I get a chuckle thinking about it.
So, to get the whole gist of why I think its funny, first, let me tell you that you need to watch for a green dinosaur and Neil Patrick Harris. Second, go to Media Post’s site where they have the Motorolla ad posted.
So, what….you say. Well, here is the thing, I have been mulling this over in my mind for a few weeks now. Every thing you do with your blog (website or whatever you call it) is an advertisement. Every tweet, every post, every link you put up or that others put about about your site is some form of advertising. With the need to be everywhere all the time, many of us end up scratching our heads and wondering how we could possibly do all the “things” that we hear everyone telling us to do. So, how do we organize and make four tasks into one task?
There are lots of things that we can do to simplify how and what we do. The easiest thing is to outsource. Hold on…many of you either don’t have the money to do that right now, just think you don’t, or don’t know how to outsource. But, here is the thing…even if you outsource, you want to make sure that your employees time is as streamlined as possible.
Take the time in the next few weeks to plan a strategy of how you can streamline what you are doing now, even if it means a fair amount of time to streamline those different tasks. One thing you can do, is use services like Ping.fm and HootSuite, to send messages or links that you would normally post manually, to type and post once rather than once for every site. Remember that interaction in the most important sites where your audience is, is where you should be, but, occasionally it doesn’t hurt to double up on your efforts. Create a social media plan, a content plan, an advertising plan, and a marketing plan. There are ways to reduce your work load or to streamline it, so that you can focus on the most important aspects of your business.
One area that you want to focus on is building a list, and how you target your list is very important. Sometimes it’s a catchy title (well, lots of times it is) other times its the irresistible offer that goes viral. Ads are only as effective as the copy that goes with it.
Now is the perfect time to make planning and strategy a must! Start the year off ahead of all the others!
One Super Cool Tip: Go to Amazon, and submit your blog to their publishing platform! Now that’s some good advertising and links etc (tons of benefits in doing this) and it will only take a few minutes, and you are done….one more thing done that you won’t have to do over and over.
