I Just Got My Google Wave Invite!

I just got part-way through one of the videos in one of the first “waves” I opened in my spankin’ new Gwave account. I wanted to watch the whole thing, but I couldn’t take it anymore and had to post about it.

It am so freakin’ excited about Google Wave (Gwave) and I cannot wait until all my partners and staff (and family) are on it too.  Even my invite from my insider buddy, Chris Lang, took seemingly forever to get to me.  So ramping this thing up will probably be a lot like when Gmail started and invites were in high demand.

(Chris reports Ebay auctions for invites in the thousands of dollars!)

How big a deal is Google Wave?

If anyone uses “Basecamp” like our company does, you can consider Google Wave the Basecamp Killer. It’s over for Highrise and Basecamp when GWave gets out to the masses. At least it will be for my network.

Collaboration in this thing is like, “whoa!” I’m usually a man of many words and now the only thing I can do is let you watch the video below. I’m textless.

Cool! If you can spare an invite I´d love one! http://scr.im/thom

@Thomas – Well I have to start with my partners and staff. Supposedly they give you 8 invites to send out at first, though I don’t know where to find them yet. But as we go along here, the more people I can help get on Gwave the better!

In case you are feeling a wave of envy and hate and jealousy for having a Google Wave, its a good chance its coming from me.

That’s so cool Jack.

It think it’s not only gonna take time to get all the invites out it’s going to take us a whole learning curve getting use to using Gwave rather than email and everything that we use now.

Wow I’m really jealous and checking my email box ecery day for mine too.

Definitely agree wave could be a basecamp killer! can’t wait to get my invite after watching the presentation video a few months back. I still enjoy using gmail for it’s ease of use so I can’t imagine the endless possibilities google wave can offer.

Just got my invite. Hi Jim Stroud! Good to see you here. Anyway, I sent one invitation to someone who is dying to try it out. Now to go carefully down my list and invite 7 others. I can hear the conversation now, “whaddya mean you don’t have nay more invites. I thought we were friends.”

Chris Lang Oct 14 at 3:41 pm

Glad you like Gwave and glad to see you finally got the invite I sent you Jack.

Google is moving slow on this and it is going to be a good wait till this becomes a beta app. I am guessing a Christmas full roll out. But more and more functionality is rolling out that we saw when we were beta testers when it was first the DEV version 3 months ago.

Currently only those of us who were DEV testers got invites to send out and that is where the first round of invites came from.

Also be very careful of anyone saying you can get an invite from them. Most of them are phishing sites that Google has shut down and are in the Google Phishing site index.

Gotta run, getting the new version of my Gwave SurfClub site with all the Gwave video how to’s.

I am looking for someone who’s primary language is not English on their machine to demonstrate the translation robot in Gwave. Everyone I know is on a machine set to English. Just respond here and we can hook up.

I’m looking forward to getting my invitation. I’ve heard it’s awsome!!

Richard Oct 16 at 2:14 pm

Wow! That’s incredible! It’s like Twitter on steriods!!

Richard Oct 16 at 2:16 pm

I applied for a wave. How long does it take to get one? Thank you!

Jack Humphrey Oct 16 at 2:18 pm

@Richard – it depends on when you applied. I know someone who got theirs already but they were opted in super early. Google is basically going in order of when you opted in. Unless you get an invite from someone who has them, it could take a while or it could be soon depending on when you signed up.

I think the possibilities are endless with this, both from a personal and commercial perspective it beats everything out there.

Now, can somebody just invite me to join the party.

Got my Wave invite through today, finally! Great news is that I also got some invites ready to go sat in my inbox; result! Once I have given out to family and friends, if I have any left over I’ll be giving them away over on my blog (yes that’s right, giving away – non of this scam or phising rubbish..)

Lyndon Irvine Oct 22 at 10:17 am

Wow. Let me say that again. This is simply
nothing short of amazing. The possibilities
Wave brings are just superb. This will change
the face of Internet Marketing as well as the
way people relate and communicate with each other
on the net.

Yes. Google Wave is a MUST HAVE.

Now to cross my fingers and hope for an invite.
