If you watched the last Superman movie, you’ll remember when he flew up to get some yellow sun and then hovered above the city listening to every single conversation going on in the entire area.
I remember knowing right away we were supposed to be repulsed by the idea of such noise and how much responsibility Superman had to bear. But I also remember thinking it would be really freakin’ cool to be able to evesdrop on the entire planet.
As long as you could control the noise somehow so it wouldn’t overwhelm you.
Well, today I feel a bit more like Superman. I started playing with the TrendsMap that Jim Stroud pointed me to and realized it was a map of the world-wide conversation going on among Tweeters from everywhere.
Click here and fly above the planet.
Peer into conversations which slightly naive Tweeps might think they are having just among their circle of followers.
Check out what they’re talking about in London. Even Tehran. (Yeah! That’s what I thought too!)
Here’s what TrendsMap looked like when balloon boy was thought to be in that homemade balloon:
More videos of other events as they happened and as people started Tweeting like mad about them.
If you are like me, your Superman super eavesdropping fantasy is just about to get a real-life boost!
