Super awesome! This will help me with niche sites and my freelance keyword research ;-) Thank you! I'm sick of tricky gurus. There are SO many ways to make money on the Internet, there's just no excuse for cheating people.

Holy crap! 'scuse please, but dang man that's brilliant! Especially for an SEO infant like myself.

Here's an even quicker way to see if someone is full of it. This will just crack you up; I almost fell of my chair the first time I saw it...

When discussing SEO, what's one of the first, and probably simplest things you should change on a blog; especially on a fresh install?

The permalink! Right? You have no idea how many "SEO Expert" blogs I run across with the default WP permalink being used. This is actually the first thing I check when i hit a new SEO blog (new to me that is). I click the first post link I see, if it's a default permalink I move on. End of story for them.

You should stop laughing, this is far more sad then funny. :)

Dennis Edells last blog post..Blog Comment Tip: Add A CommentLuv Link With No Plugin (sneaky!)

Seen this countless times and always had to laugh when someone promoted his/her product saying Look I am #1 for ..... which has 40 million other pages fighting for it and indeed when you do a search on Google with quotes around the phrase it turned out to be something with very less competition.

2 things I do to see about the real competition is do a search with quotes and one with intitle:”your keyword”
My reasoning is that if the website owner is realy going for a keyword phrase it will be in the title also

Edwins last blog post..e-Junkie Payment and Affiliate manager

Google only counts a tiny fraction of what Yahoo does. I use Yahoo just to feel better about myself. :) Yahoo seems to count everything it finds, so if you are looking for the biggest, most important sites, use Google. Though they count some pretty weird links as well, they still have fewer to sift through.

Jack,

Would you also use Yahoo Site Explorer to check backlinks as well? If so are there specific things to watch for when using these two different tools?
