Guest Post by Nick Bokhonok
I respect professional people, especially for their responsibility in what they are saying and doing. But we cannot be experts in all spheres of life, and it creates a problem, as someone can use your lack of experience to make you pay for a product/service of no value.
Unfortunately the SEO industry (search engine optimization) – is not an exception from this sad statistic. Some SEO *gurus* do not have enough time or money or desire or intellect to create products which realistically help to push sites to Google page 1, and they resort to CHEATING.
In this post you will read how to check in less than 1 minute whether the product/strategy/tool/script/software/service is really helping you to get Google page 1 or is nothing but another piece of junk.
Typical Trick to Cheat People Who are Not SEO Professionals
To lure you into the purchase of a useless product, the SEO *guru* needs to persuade you that the product works like a magic wand. What is the best proof? Google page 1, of course. And this is where the *gurus* start to cheat.
I will give you an example of their typical trick. Check out the screenshot below – for the test I picked a random keyword (not the best phrase in terms of grammar, but this is just an example).
To cheat you I would need to push my site to page 1 for this keyword ‘how seo guru cheat you’ and start screaming on all corners “Look, with my new product I pushed my site to page 1 in 24 hours. And it has 174,000 competitors!”
Where is the Catch? This is Page 1!
The catch is that the seemingly huge number of 174,000 competitors is… an illusion.
The key to Google page 1 is to build quality backlinks. Link building is not the only thing you should do, but this is very important.
That is why, before starting the fight for any keyword, SEO-wise people start from measuring the link building competition. Remember this phrase link building competition. By measuring the link building competition you are investigating how many pages also started to build backlinks for this phrase.
The fake is that screenshot above DOES NOT show you the real link building competition. If you type into Google ‘how seo guru cheat you’ the way it is shown above, Google is simply showing you the web pages that have these words somewhere on the page.
It is possible that out of all that 174,000 web pages NOT A SINGLE page has at least one backlink with this phrase in anchor text.
And this means I can build 2-3 backlinks with ‘how seo guru cheat you’ in the anchor text (it will take me 5 minutes) and in 24 hours I am Google page 1 for this phrase and can sell absolute junk to naïve people.
How to Check Link Building Competition?
Google has special search operator called inanchor. To check how many web pages have backlinks with your keyword in anchor text, type the following into Google search field:
inanchor:”your keyword here”
Let’s check the link building competition for the keywords that I chose – ‘how seo guru cheat you’ and…
You see, “Your search … did not match any documents” – in simple human language it means that the link building competition for this keyword is ZERO. No one has started to build backlinks for this phrase. If I build 2-3 backlinks, tomorrow I am page 1 for this phrase.
Remember, I promised to Give 1 Minute Test…
The explanation took longer than a minute
But I had to do that, so that you understand what stands behind the test.
And the test is simple – it will take less than a minute in real life:
Once you see a product that promises you Google page 1 and see the screenshots with proof – go to Google and measure the link building competition for these keywords. If you see that inanchor for this keyword is less than 100 results (web pages), then this keyword has a very small link building competition and cannot be used as a fair example to prove the validity and effect from any SEO product.
And if you see that someone got Google page 1 with inanchor over 1,000,000 – well, this product is really worth attention.
Do that test before making any purchase of SEO products!
It is imperative!! You cannot imagine how many *gurus* are using this trick and selling total junk. It is possible that you already got into the trap, but it is never too late to open your eyes. With this simple inanchor test you will be able to instantly see who is talking business and who is cheating you.
Be smart. Be prepared. Be successful!
