Google will even pick up and index websites based on referrers. i.e. you are designing a new website and you run a Google search after working in that browser window on that site, you are likely to be indexed within a couple of days. If as Jack says, your host or your domain are not hot (i.e. banned). Guys, almost any ping list will do.
