Guest Posting vs. Article Marketing

by Jack Humphrey on Dec 3

Jim was out today making deals, so I stole his scoops and used them for my own personal glory.

Big topic today:  Guest posting versus article marketing.

Conclusion:  for immediate traffic, actual search engine benefits, and a bigger readership, you can’t do any better than guest posting.  It not only beats article marketing, it beats just about everything else too.

Listen in to find out why…

Totally agree with your take on this– when you guest post on a blog that is relevant to yours, you are offering value to the readers of both blogs. This has been a topic of much discussion on my BizWebForum, and almost everyone seems to understand that guest posting offers Google more value per post as well, to keep your SERPs high.

    Hi jack:

Your point is well taken regarding the relative value of guest posting.

One other thing I think you should have emphasized is having an opt-in list process in place to permanently benefit from the new readers attracted.

Also, here is a link to a unique Guest Blogging Contest you might want to mention on your next show:

That’s the Catch 22— so much work, so little time….

I truly agree with the “bang for the buck” aspect of it. I find, even looking as close as to my clients, that I batter consistently with the idea of context, the understanding of this concept did not take off as quickly as social networking. I am hopeful though :)

I agree it’s a time issue. What you would like to do and what you have time to do are frequently different beasts!

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve used guest posting extensively for most of my blogs and have seen the greatest return on my time from the traffic and subscriptions that its brought.

Thanks for this. Am just getting rolling with pretty regular blog posts of my own, and sharpening my article-marketing intentions. This makes extra good sense though (hence this comment, just kidding!). More real-time dynamic and socially leveraged.
Its definitely worth taking daily work time to post thoughtful, useful comments on a handful of favorite blogs, as well of course links on LinkedIn, FB etc.

    Hi Jack,
Firstly thank you for the Free Gifts.

Having just started a Blog for the very first time, I see straight away the benefits of Guest Posting and rather than making more work, quite quickly how it would actually make less work for you.
    I shall be using this.
Now if you have any tips in which order to do things when a starting out on blogging I would be eternally grateful,I have kept away from blogging as it seemed so full of Html and Rss, it just seems all so hard to do.
Computers are not my forte as you can see,my computer really doesn’t like me, perhaps its’ the endless threats of throwing it out the window !.

More than ever I do realize that I need to Blog for my Hand Wired Jewellery Company to stay fresh and new, much like Guest Posting.
Shall be following all your blogs with gusto.
If you would like to take a look at my blog and give me some tips, after all you wouldn’t want to see a grown woman begging now would you?.http://wirelicious-jewellery.blogspot.com

In my opinion submitting articles to directories as well as guest posting both have it’s advantages. Article directories normally have a high PR, while popular blogs can drive a lot of traffic.
