Chris and Jack
This conversation was really very informative. There were so many tips re the power of friend feed, gmail and other internet products. It certainly shows that any internet marketer needs to keep up with Google and watch what they are adding to their applications.
Thanks a lot.
Jack, I want to thank you for having the foresight to bring this to your readers and help them learn what most are dismissing. Google Friend Connect is the Twitter of the second decade…
To get you started, over on Robert Scoble’s blog yesterday I spent allot of time helping out his readers who did not understand what Google is up to with Google Friend Connect. no reason to read that, Jack and I are both here for you.
So first of all, most think the members gadget and joining GFC gadgets is like playing with a toy, it’;s fun, you have a few laughs, but it does not make anyone any money except for Toys-R-Us.
Well just two days ago Google added another feature, when you click an avatar now, their Google profile name is a hyperlink, click it and it opens a new tab or window to your Google profile, and of course you have added links to your own sites. Maybe just a little bit more beneficial to you than a Facebook link to a profile with tons on links to who knows what on a wall.
So, I will be watching this thread every few hours. Please ask any questions your have here on Jack’s blog. When you comment check that box below on the left and get this thread as it happens in your email. This is the most powerful information you will get this year thanks to Jack Humphrey.
Cheers! = Chris Lang
This YouTube tip really works. You can get results on this within 24 hours with very little participation. Can’t believe you’re telling people in such detail. I’ll have to go and get a real job.
Very relevant discussion here. Thanks for getting together with Chris and sharing this conversation. Pertaining to YouTube as a social network, I recently incorporated a YouTube conversion traffic case study as a part of a product review. In the 60 day study, YouTube traffic converted 296% more than Google search. The full story is here:

Jack you do a great job on these interviews, I will pay attention for future stuff.
I don’t get it. This is a big “So what, who cares” moment for me. What are the benefits of pursuing this course of action and what specifically is the course of action? Is there a flow chart of how all these pieces fit together? I like pictures especially when they haven’t been colored yet
.
Heard it twice now as part of the taped conversation between you and Jack, you said Sept 2009( you probably mean 2008 since Sept 2009 hasn’t happened yet)
Useful, if a little wordy. I have to take issue with Chris’s claim about mutual friends being added to your gmail contacts.
It doesn’t work for me, nor for the folks who’ve answered my various posts asking for help on the various Google help sites.
It would be good to hear Chris addressing this directly.
Cheers,
Mark
You guys are like Reese’s Peanut Butter cups two great tastes that taste great together! Chris mention authority sites, like you build with http://blogsuccess.com. Now we can tie it ALL together with GFC.
Thanks for sharing, now I have to add GFC to HSTV!
Tim
Chris & Jack,
Thanks for all the Google Friend Connect info. The Youtube tip at the end of the audio was well worth the time to listen.
Tomorrow I launch my new Sacramento SEO business. I’ll be sharing your tips with my customers.
It’s time to Get on the Map!
Julie
I’ve been following Chris Lang for a while – he’s way out in front of anyone else on Google Connect and Digg! Great to hear your interview with him.
Another excellent post Jack. I’ve noticed that Google never stands still. they are always looking to upgrade the search experience of their users.
Google Friend Connect Tactics will bring you up to speed on what GFC is all about. This is the link Jack added to the bottom of the audio widget, you probably missed it just as I did since it was not real prevalent.
Watch the videos, read the thing and this page has a few social features not seen before, like the questions gadget just above the John Assaraf interview with Chris Lang, right about a third of the way down the page.
Also the Google Friend Connect social bar is on the page so you can let me know what you thought and add yourself to the GFC bar so I can see who was there.
This is one of the best benefits of GFC gadgets, you can easily add social features to a page that might other wise not be able to offer them with out the skills to code them in yourself.
We are right now doing a video to respond to your comments above, like the Gmail issue.
Be back tomorrow with a very interesting video for you all.
Cheers! = Chris Lang
I will be adding allot here today so keep an eye out for comment emails.
My assistant is putting together documentation on the Gmail GFC friends addresses issue and it will be ready in about an hour. (my assistant rocks)
Robert Scoble, the most powerful social media user on Earth now gets GFC and how powerful it is! I am helping his readers get this too. Read what we all had to say on Socble’s blog.

Lastly, Jack does have a link to lots more on what Google Friend Connect does and how social media is changing fast.
It is at the bottom of the player for the audio interview. Check that out now, take five minutes and read this whole article and watch the videos. Google Friend Connect is going to crush most other media with it’s power in the next year. If you learn how to make money with this now you can be the Scoble of GFC and dominate the second coming of social media networking.
@Mark,
To address the Gmail friends list issue, I had my assistant Margie, put together documention on the Google outage this weekend and the changes Google is making to it’s network.
I want you all to look back on the time when Google was rolling out Google Latitude in the link below. We were not getting our mutuals added to Gmail for a time then either.
But read what happened when Google released Latitude becuase that is what we believe is going to happen now.
Google outage and Google Friend Connect
Also Google is coding tons of new features in Gmail, they are rolling out one or two new GFC apps a week. We have seen the Gmail addresses come and go, but they always return. You have to look at the big picture here, not just a few email addresses.
This is not about a 5000 member friends list like on Digg or Facebook that you spam with invites and group junk every week. This is about real people with real email addresses and STRATEGIC ALLIANCES that bring you high end users of Google Friend Connect over 50 different applications on Google and especially YouTube.
Good Information given by Google expert Chris Lang .I love SMM and using that in my business and getting good result .
Last night my buddy friended me thru a GFC gadget and I did not even get a friend request.
THIS IS GOOD!
When GFC does not do what I expect, then something real hot rolls out shortly there after.
Last time it was Latitude.
So, sit tight, watch the toolbar PR of major sites, it is bouncing like my ex wife’s checks, Google was a 2 the other day and all the Twitter profiles were 9’s and that means major updates at Google. Expect something to pop off soon….
Hey my tweets made Jack Humphrey’s Friday Traffic Report. I do not know who to be more in love with, Jack or Chris! *smile face here*
Thanks for posting this call Jack…it was extremely informative. I have been a fan of Chris’s for over one year now and try to take in everything he has to say…it’s hard to keep up with everything. This call was a huge turning point for me because I am not as technical as Chris so I loved how you were able clarify his thoughts and bring him down a level. Congrats Chris!!
@Christine – That’s what I do – take people down levels!
Thanks for the feedback. Don’t be a stranger!
Interesting!
I feel like there is a scarcity of good marketing today. Good marketing means which can convert the leads into sales. The only marketing that has moved me in the last couple of years is Search Engine Optimization.
