There are lots of people weighing in on Google Friend Connect. Early reviews are mixed, to be sure, but Google is always able to create a firestorm of attention when it announces new services.
Since I haven’t gotten invited yet, I will withhold my reaction until I have a chance to see what it will do for us first hand.

Just ran across this in a trackback on Google. I wanted to give you the heads up that Friend Connect is going live on Blogger any day now. The Followers widget is actually Friend Connect, it just depends on what code Google feeds the widget.
I have caught Google testing Friend Connect for a few hours late at night but then it is gone and we wait impatiently for Google to pull the last piece out of the hat connect friends.
In the mean time add the Followers widget to your Blogger blog and soon you will see Friend Connect in there instead.
