I think google will not purchase twitter may be due to its valuation. I think at some point of time it will transform orkut into twitter substitute.

@untacticcal00 Imagine if Twitter was bought by Google and they allocated a percentage of profits, as they do in Google Outreach and many other areas for non-profits, and supported those who are down on their luck through no fault of their own. Now wouldn't you want to back & support a company who cares. A lot of people don't research enough to understand how companies support a plethora of charities and projects in their mainstream business dealings, and it is a sad reflection from us that they're not given some form of recognition for the good they do. If there was a horse race, Google would always come first!

Jack -

This is a seriously content packed blog! I think so many of us have build a significant portion of our online strategy tied to the open use and immediacy of Twitter that we have a vested interest in their future. A few months ago many were wondering "how will Twitter monetize," well I think we know the answer now.

I do not think Google can afford not to acquire Twitter and I don't see Twitter making the facebook mistake of holding out too long for the highest bidder - they are looking a little uncertain if who they are as a result. My experience teaches me that Google does a great job at adding value, blogger, keyword search tools, mapping, etc. I am not afraid of a Google, Twitter marriage. I might just ensure that Twitter remains the free and open platform that we have all grown to love.

Excellent resources and links!

I think Twitter is on the cusp of where the web is going, but I cannot conceptualize a revenue model Twitter which would justify the price being tossed around in the reports.

Think it will be a better thing if Google acquire Twitter. It definitely means more opportunities for the internet marketing community. No matter what many think of Google I beileve they have helped more people make more money online. Internet marketers will be better for this deal, cos they always knows how to turn every opportunity to some quick buck!

If Google wants to broaden it's Interactive Services by buying Twitter then we should all feel comfortable knowing that it is in safe hands. We need not be too concerned about the Google Corporation and how it conducts itself, we should be more focused on what our activities are and seriously ask the question to ourselves, what are we doing wrong? Haven't you ever noticed that Google has provided videos that teaches us about almost anything & everything to do with Internet compliance, security, marketing strategies and the list....is endless but the point is, when something happens there is a reason for it? If you lose you Account with Google, have you over stepped the line? Be fair in your judgement against any person or company and if there are issues, take them behind the curtain and discuss alternatives with them direct. 'What are you doing now' is certainly a catchy phrase and if you investigate the real challenges about us all, you will find most answers are inside Twitter already. Rather than abuse a system or corporation, support it and the benefits will penultimately be like a two way street. untacticcal000@Twitter,Google,Support, videos

Great post Jack, thanks for the summary. I think if twitter can show any revenue at all then it's a super slam dunk! jimcorbett@twitterexpert
