Not sure if I need to focus on getting links to my site or getting the site design complete. I know, I know! You’re going to say both. Hey, at least the site is live now. I sat on the domain for way too long. Seriously, good list of link building helps. Copyblogger and SEOmoz both seem to be top notch. Thanks for sharing

      It goes like this:

      1. Get the site up and worry about finer design points as you add first round of content – get the design perfect after you have rankings and first visitors coming to the site.
      2. Get links starting with the first post and never stop!
      3. Refine design as you go along – you’ll find yourself wanting to do this anyway as blogs take on new elements throughout their existence when we get tired of the look, navigation or other elements and as we learn new tricks.

Great post! I’m in the process of building links for my site. One of the strategies, I’ve been using is commenting on do follow and no follow blogs.

Commenting on relevant blogs even if they’re no follow can still bring you great traffic, and opportunities to get links back from high page ranking sites if they happen to read your post and like it.

Taking my time to go through all the videos posted. Thanks for sharing.

    @ Jack,
That third one you mentioned has become somewhat of an addiction for me especially whenever I see a new plugin in the WP directory.

I also wanted to add an overlooked method of getting links which is to submit ads with keyworded headlines to certain free classified ad sites ;)

Getting back links is one of the most boring and at the same time challenging endeavors an SEO takes on. It’s boring because it is tedious and time-consuming work. It is challenging because each website is unique and finding new and different resources for links will keep pushing you on.

  • http://www.mavenlive.com Chris@Mavenlive Physiotherapy Software

At Mavenlive we are developing physical therapy software and hoping to market it strictly online. We have pursued both Google ads and Facebook ads. What we’ve found is that the ROI we receive from our Facebook ads is an order of magnitude higher than our Google ads.

Now why is this? Well for our market of physical therapists I have come to this conclusion. After work therapists might go to Google to find a few things they need. They do their search find a page and leave. Very little time for your as to be in front of the prospect. However, they may spend HOURS an evening on Facebook. They are a captive audience where you can consistently have your ad and message in front of them. They aren’t leaving Facebook… they remain on it for hours. Compare to google where you do your search and leave the results page in seconds.

    Makes sense… think about it!

Makes a lot of sense actually!

Another great post Jack thanks. I always love to hear your voice rolling out again. hope you had a great week.

personally, my new favorite link building is guest posting for niche blogs. I have just started, and I am seeing great results from it already. not only does it send direct traffic, and give me one link, but I have found that if I do a good link bait piece, then guest post on 3-4 blogs, a lot of the linking gets done for me by the people coming through to see my site.

You are absolutely right.Getting links is the most difficult task.In fact it is so difficult that you may need to hire people to do the link building for you.But my favorite way of getting links is trough Article Marketing. Why I like this strategy is because, along with links you also get free traffic from them as well.

Jack, Thanks for those references. However, building links has been pretty difficult these days especially because scalable link strategy later turned to spam. Link baiting is quite good idea (seo content etc..) but not for newbie and even they need efforts too.
