A Blog Success member asked recently how to best go about getting accepted into the Ebay Partner Network.

Sounded like a great excuse to whip out the new Utility Poster 3.0 and get to work!  (if you can call this work, lol)

Ebay tends to favor ecommerce sites more readily than others, but there are ways you can better ensure that you get approved in their network.

Below you will find resources and posts from people who have experienced the Ebay Partner Network application process first-hand and who have tips to share…

How to Get Accepted by Ebay Partner Network

eBay Partner Network (Overview)

Obviously no one has put up a video on best practices for getting accepted to EPN.  Looks like an opportunity!

Take Aways

What surfaces in the information above are some basic, common sense tips for getting accepted in the Ebay Partner Network.

  • Ebay is stingy, picky even, about accepting new sites in the network.
  • They want to see a serious site and are actively avoiding brand new, not-so-content rich sites.
  • They like ecommerce sites more apparently.
  • You should build your site out a bit before even applying.  Don’t bother with a newborn site.
  • Get links, rankings, and a good base of content up.
  • Get accepted by applying with your best, oldest, and most mainstream site.
  • I applied and got accepted with this site.  It is old, chock full of content, and obviously run by a real person.  Don’t submit a “made for Ebay” type site – it won’t get accepted.
  • Take your time on the application.  A real person obviously reads them and they need to know you’re serious, for real, and not a splog builder.
  • Join BlogSuccess and learn how to build REAL blogs that have no problem getting accepted into programs like EPN.
  • Use a program like the one I am using on this post to quickly backfill a new site with quality, relevant content and get more trackback links.

I love your use of Utility poster to create a quality blog post. It probably took you all of 5 minutes to do it! This is great! I now see the power of using this software. My only question is, how did you get it to print such long summaries? My summaries are much much shorter than yours.

B – I just dragged and dropped from the results in UP. It depends on what you search – and find – how long the excerpts are I guess. I haven’t found any short ones yet like you mention but I suppose that could be a factor in some niches and what Google returns for new posts?

What a great post! I have an eBay store and I think it is a great site but it can be so hard to get approved with the eBay Partner Network! A friend of mine has tried and she wasn’t able to get approved!

    Hey Jack,

This information is going to help me a lot. I applied to EPN and got denied. I discovered the real reason for that denial in your information. I’m going to take your advice and revamp my website and re- apply.

Can I use UP to boost my back links for a WPMage site?

    • http://www.jackhumphrey.com/ Jack Humphrey

Whenever you use UP in a new post, pings are sent out to the blogs you are linking to, so yes, this will improve backlinks on any type of blog over time.

    Hi Jack,

Great post, which I found during my review of the Blog Success members area (following my sign up three days ago).

I’ve used Zemanta before but I reckon that UP and VUP will give me the edge that I’ve been seeking.

I think the summaries depend on the information somewhat, but they are also just pulling from Google, so you can do a search in Google Blog Search and see the length of the summaries there as well to verify that they are probably just short for some googley reason. UP just takes what Google gives it.
