Feedburner Subscribers Firefox Add On

by Jack Humphrey on Jan 21

We just launched a new FireFox Addon that shows you how many RSS subscribers you have to your Feedburner feed and how many hits are generated daily from your feed.

feedburnersubscribers.JPG

It’s simple, but solves a pesky problem: not knowing at a glance what your feed subscriber count is and rarely, unless you log into your Feedburner account, knowing how many hits you generate from your feed daily.

There’s just one small problem. Mozilla puts you in a “sandbox” when you submit new add ons and it has to be reviewed by several people before they let it out in the general population where everyone can download and use it.

I will give you a scoop and show you how to get this killer little add on, but you have to do me a favor and review it at Mozilla to help get it out of the sandbox.

Deal?

Here’s what you need to do:

Go to
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/

Register from link at upper right
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/users/register

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/users/login

Search for “feedburner” and you’ll see the Content Desk “Feedburner Subscribers” add on.Get the following result page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6369

The review link is at the bottom, but use the thing first so you know we’re not kidding – it works and all! :)

This is an honor system type of thing. Some will grab it and leave, but I am counting on the general goodness of “the people” and hoping you will take the time to review.

Howdy Jack. Now no one can say I don’t know Jack

Thanks for the Feedburner Subscribers add-on.

I need to restart FireFox to try it but once I do I will leave a review that has more than 4 or 5 words.

Thanks so much for the software, Jack!!

I followed your instructions and left a nice review over at Firefox. My overall impression of the software was that it not only “works as advertised” (which is paramount), but that it’s also given me an immediate sense of my ‘audience’ — one that I had not previously had.

I’ve noticed that my subscribers have climbed in numbers (tripled, actually) since last week, and your software will allow me to monitor that behind-the-scenes activity!

Good Job!

Unfortunately I encountered a problem twice when I clicked on it to install it. During the installation I get the following message:

Firefox could not install the file at

http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/downloads/file/24651/feedburner_subscribers-1.2-fx.xpi

because: Invalid file hash (possible download corruption) -261

Anyone have a clue what I should do next? It just will not let me have it :(

Absolutely LOVE your plug in. Upgraded to firefox 3.5.2 today and found out tha tyour add on is not supported. I almost want to roll back to a prior version of firefox. I hope you find time to update your add on to the new version. It is invaluable to me!

Thanks
Carlo

Thanks for letting me know about that! I’ve forwarded this to our programmer to see what we need to do to get that add on up to date ASAP.
