Seth Godin angers me. So I shall link to him. He angers me because I’ve tried to say what he’s said in his latest post in many ways, yet he’s out done me again.
When you read this post, enjoy it the first time. It is a genuine experience. I had to tell you about it immediately. I had to link to it. I am positive he will get many links for this one from people who were as moved by it as me.
The second time you read it, do so as a blogger looking for clues. What can you learn from this one small post about giving your readers a genuine experience?
The topic: Marketers just don’t understand social media.
The Hot Button: Saying what so many others are not saying about marketing through social media.
The Genuine Experience: Saying it in a way that leaves no room for argument, rebuttal, or questions. It gives a “wow” moment for people in my niche. It gives off a genuine experience you’re happy to pass around the web saying “did you see this?”
Excerpt from “Brands, social, clutter and the sundae”
“Traditional advertising is inherently selfish. It interrupts in order to generate money (part of which pays for more interruptions). That approach doesn’t work at a cocktail party, or at a funeral or in a social network.”
