There’s a lot of training out in the last 12 months about increasing the customer value of your offers. Experts are training the value of bonus pages, backend sales, and optin offers for pulling more profit out of each transaction.
Only a very lazy person would be leaving cash on the table by not offering upsells, downsells, and cross sales after a purchase has been made. A lazy person, or someone who doesn’t want to take the time to create a bonus offer page that sells.
I fall into the latter category. It’s a bunch of work and I have traditionally done a bad job in the past of monetizing the download area of my offers. Which left me with one sale and whatever profit from that and following up with buyers in email leaves me.
The process for most online purchases looks like this:
Sales letter – checkout – download page with product or intructions for using what was just purchased.
The better, much more profitable system looks like this:
Sales letter – checkout – download page with product and instructions + bonus offers.
It’s been tested over and over, and we’ve seen dramatic profit increases per customer by simply offering something additional while the prospect is hottest.
The problem remains that it is extra work putting together a download – bonus page that really sells.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Get your own product fulfillment up on the page. The graphics and download links.
2. Design the page with header, etc.
3. Contact information, support links, etc.
4. Find things you can offer that are hot sellers and join as an affiliate, grab your links and graphics, and insert into page.
5. Re-check and make sure everything looks good and is professional.
6. Upload and point your checkout success link to your download / bonus page.
There’s a new free tool out by Jeff Dedrick that does all of the above for you. It’s pretty badass. Suffice it to say, I’m not building these pages by hand anymore. Nor am I struggling to find great products to include as bonus offers and upsells as an affiliate.
Now there’s no real excuse not to improve your backend profits. This would work really well with a free offer too!

Very timely post for me, too. I’ve just been looking at ways to better monetize my business and download and confirmation pages are an area where I definitely have dropped the ball in the past. Thanks for the tips!
