    Hello,

    I am very interested in trying out the Mini Profile App for my FB fan page. I would like to be able to do some of the customizations that was talked about in the radio discussion, and this app may be able to do this for me. I believe that FB is trying to get businesses to use the fanpage as their business page instead of their profile page, but they are not making it easy.

    I really like the idea of the Facebook plugin as I want to build up my own community. But I am really concerned about the future. I have been stung before when using plugins that are abandoned by the owner and no longer supported and impossible to migrate. Do you think the FB one will be around for a while? FOr a really long time?

    Also, what happens if you uninstall it? Do the comments disappear?

      It will be around probably longer than you want to use it. i.e. a new better one might come out you’d rather use. Yes the comments posted on your site with the widget would disappear, but not the ones posted on FB.

    Interesting discussion on the segmentation of users according to various demographics. The problem, and it’s one that FB must be aware of in it’s strategy, is that the idea of community and separation are mutually conflicting. You possibly picked an extreme exaple when you spoke of a Moslem FB; why not then a Catholic FB or a fundamentalist Christian FB and so on. But there already is a ‘container’ to hold all these disparate groupings: it’s called the web! So the horizon of the question is really how far does FB or anyone else go before they end up dissipating their own space so that it reverts to the totality of the webspace.

    My own thinking is that the essence of FB and similar applications is that they are founded on what people have in common!
