I have been a full-time online entrepreneur, coach, consultant, author, speaker, and trainer for 7 years. Before that I had been online making money in some form since 1998. I was proud the day, even long before 1998, when I got the fastest connection available to the internet: a 1200 baud modem!

Before becoming a professional online marketing and SEO specialist I tracked Mountain Lions, Black Bears, Coatimundi, Wolves and Jaguars in the wildlands of New Mexico, Arizona, and Northern Mexico.

Knowing how to track wildlife set me up to succeed on the web in wild ways. I naturally became and online tracker. Just like in the wild when I’d track a bear by following signs like scat, deer kills, and of course, a lot of tracks invisible to the layperson to see how they made their living in the wild.

Because of my background I started seeing things on the web that no one else was seeing. It gave me the wide-open opportunity to create my first book, Power Linking (2002) which taught a type of traffic generation through link building no one else had thought of or discovered.

My background working in the wild and being free to do the work I loved the way I wanted to do it also gave me my first taste of freedom. I studied wildlife that was, above all else, the epitome of freedom. And I was free to roam some of the most wild places in North America.

Problem was, I was reaching burnout from 11 years in the non-profit business and the “non-profiting” was getting old too. I saw the web as a vast, wild landscape of a different kind of freedom. Financial freedom and freedom from bosses and regular jobs.
