Somebody better tell Perez Hilton he might as well quit ;) Apparently there's no money in blogging!

Blogging is going nowhere. Smart bloggers are simply using TOOLS like facebook and twitter to drive traffic to their sites.

I beg to disagree with Paul's thoughts about the near end of blogging. In fact, a lot of people still make use of blog as one of the forms of internet marketing. As long as people have the passion to read, blogs won't cease to exist.

Yes, I don't agree that blogging is dead. On the contrary, it is still quite alive. Lots of people are still blogging. Twitter and Facebook might be the fad nowadays but blogging is not passe.

I don't think blogging is dead. Even when there's twitter and facebook, people still opt to blog especially those people who love to write and share what they think.

Actually, on the contrary, I think blogging is in its prime and going to rise all because of the amazing capabilities you can do with it.
.-= FreeMicrosoft´s last blog ..<a href="http://free5000microsoftpoints.blogspot.com/2009/08/free-microsoft-points.html">Free Microsoft points</a> =-.

That is the biggest pile of rubbish I have ever heard. Where is his source? I'd love to meet him because his view is terribly old fashioned - that is the sought of thing i'd have heard 6 years ago and blogging is still in its prime with some businesses just starting it out.

Depending on your blog you can make it big but the majority of people (me included) blog for the passion: mine being technology.

Thats made my day :) Thanks for that.

I don't think blogging itself is dead; Twitter will never replace the blog because I can't get my thoughts out there in 140 words or less. I can't even comment in 140 words or less! And wouldn't a blog be SO 2003? That's when blogs really boomed on the web. If you can't pay for Flickr, your pictures drop off after 200. What kind of a photographer or graphical artist can only live with having 200 pieces of their work shown? Why not buy webspace and make your own gallery?

I remember back in 2004 someone told me I needed a Flickr, a Facebook, a Twitter. I didn't. I still don't. A blog and a personal site are enough for me to care for on the web!

Yeah that is crazy. There is plenty of over-hype by bloggers about how you can get rich easily. But the idea that they are dead is not accurate at all. Now if you want to say 95% of them are dead yeah that is true. Just look how many blogs don't have a post in the last 6 months. But blogging is alive and well for those that are willing to commit to it. And yes, as you mention, you can reach a point where other methods of communication might be better suited for much of what you want to communicate. That doesn't mean blogs are dead.
