Thanks for the article, Unfortunately I am too a SEO addict and even though I am aware of all this I am just focused on my sites ranking, not on sales, I don't care about them. I think I would be more happier for ranking #1 for some competitive keyword than earning some serious money. Ok, if the amount was too serious then the situation would be different, bit still... :)
For example I am checking my SE ranking much more frequently than my money balance at my affiliates.

Great article, SEO needs to be done in balance with the other aspects of running a site.

I especially thought the part about customer retention is worth stressing even more than it was in the article. Especially, as an affiliate, once you make a sale why just leave it at that? These people are buyers, so you definitely want to follow up with them.

In fact before my old blog got way-laid by a hacker I had a post on building your business leeching off the brands of others. It talked about contacting customers who've bought through you and getting them if possible into an auto-responder sequence.

I just don't get when people throw away money not following up with these people. Basically if you don't the merchant will, and you've lost the chance to get these people into your sales funnel rather than the merchants. This is a huge key to success.

Overall nice article!
