Amplify now clips straight to your WordPress blog!

by Jack Humphrey on Jul 16

This is awesome news. I can now take this off our list of things to develop and thankfully. Much rather have this capability through Amplify along with all the other ways to clip and post content!

I talk about the new features Amplify has on today’s short but sweet FTR Radio:

Amplify announces support for auto-posting to WordPress and Blogger

I’m very excited to announce that Amplify now supports auto-posting to WordPress and Blogger.  Just like auto-posting from Amplify to Posterous or Tumblr, whether it’s a clip, URL, microblog or full blog post on Amplify, the full content of your Amp will be posted to your blog.
You can easily set up Amplify to autopost to your favorite sites by visiting Settings >> Autopost.
A few notes to be aware of:

1. Support for WordPress includes self-hosted WordPress blogs as well as those on wordpress.com.

2. Wordpress.com does not support all types of video, so only YouTube videos that you Amplify will display properly when post them to a wordpress.com blog.Read more at egoldstein.amplify.com

    Hi Jack,

Since I’m new both here and at B$ is there (and I’m sure there is) a resource for Amplify somewhere at B$? I have to confess I don’t know what Amplify is but it sounds important and useful.

    Thanks Joe

Joe – yes I’ve done a couple of webinars talking about Amplify in BlogSuccess in the past. It’s fairly straight forward to use – one of those apps that are easier to learn by doing than by instruction I think.

Hmmm – have you tried it yet Jack?

I can not seem to get it to post to my self-hosted WordPress blog.
Anyone else get it to work?

I’ve heard the same.. It sounds complicated when you read about it, but if you give it a shot its not too bad. Kudos on adding Youtube videos — I think that is all that is needed since it is the most popular site.

OK – You need to have enable xml-rpc services on your blog.

On your dashboard you need to go to Settings, then writing, then half way down you need to click the box next to “Enable the WordPress, Movable Type, MetaWeblog and Blogger XML-RPC publishing protocols.” and it will then work.

Thanks to Mr. Eric Goldstein for actually helping me out with this when I posted the problem on My Amplify.

I didn’t know that, I used AutoBlogged to share Youtube videos on my blog. Thanks for this nice article!

I love Amplify, I was turned on to it by Blog Success, and now that I can post to my WordPress, it makes things even easier for me.

    Hey Jack,

This sounds as if it’s a great idea, but does duplicate content enter into this at all?

    Thanks,
    Mike

No – it’s just syndication of content. Duplicate content is when you have two domains with multiple, identical pages and “mirror” sites. The only consideration here is which iteration of your post will score in top 10.

Hey Jack this is great news. Glad to see that you don’t have to go code it yourself.

I have been using amplify for a few months and glad to see that they are helping us to better leverage the system.

Thanks for the report Jack. Also for the tip offs about Zemanta and Utility Poster. I’d bought UP a while back when it first came out, and kind of forgotten about it (indeed “lost” it a few laptops ago). I’ve been using Amplify a few days now and it works well, its just a shame you can’t post/select several wordpress hosted blogs. So I guess you need multiple amplify accounts, for each themed wordpress blog.
