Great post, Michel.

I like to court controversy on my blog. I particularly like to write provocative titles to drag people in. Of course, some people will be put off by them, but then it's a numbers game and I figure I'm coming out on top overall - curiosity versus rejection.

For example, I've written posts entitled:

Obesity - how the fat guy beside you is killing you, your family, and everything you love!

China – Saddle up, Boys, We’re Going In!

and pobably the most controversial (though purely misdirection) -

Top 10 Reasons Why Bestiality is Beautiful!

The titles seem to work considering the traffic I'm getting for a newborn blog. Plus I've had people comment on their effectiveness in inticing them to read a post.

I try to include controversy in most of my posts, too, to some degree both to hook the reader and to make him see the world the way I want him to, so I can get my point across. It's a technique I developed for my novel 'What if...?', a suspense thriller, but I've found that writing style has crossed over to blog writing very well.

It's very easy to write something 'safe', but 'safe' won't get you much attention. To be heard over the vast amount of noise in the world today you either have to SCREAM or say something in some way intriguing.

Thanks for another quality post.
