A Wordpress Theme To Rule Them All

by Jack Humphrey on Nov 13

You might have noticed I switched things up here a bit. The theme Friday Traffic Report is using now is called Thesis and it is Chris Pearson’s latest creation.

Chris Pearson is one of the best Wordpress theme designers on the web today.  He’s responsible for the look and feel of thousands of blogs around the web.  Thesis changes the entire Wordpress theme game for the better.

Why is Thesis Different?

This is the web’s first forward-compatible Wordpress theme. What that means is you can do anything you want with design. The code underneath (what makes the blog run properly) never changes. In the old days you had to physically change the template pages.

With Thesis, you change the look and feel of the blog with “hooks” throughout the theme. Basically, your blog’s design floats on top of the code underneath, so when Pearson upgrades that code and you install a new version, your blog stays the same on the outside.

Free At Last!

This removes a major pain in the butt that all bloggers deal with when changing their themes or upgrading a theme. Thesis allows you to put in an upgrade and keep the blog exactly the same design-wise, thus, saving you major headaches.

If you’ve been following the Friday Traffic Report for awhile, you know I get bored with my theme about once a year. I am looking forward to next year now! Once I get this theme looking the way I want, then get tired of it and put together another design, I can do all of that while Pearson keeps me on the cutting edge of SEO and clean code on the backend.

We are putting clients on this theme as well, so I thought I’d recommend it to you too. Be sure to check out the demos so you can see that literally anything can be done with design on this theme.

Interesting. I’m trying to figure out all the ins and outs of Wordpress myself right now. Thanks for the info.

Man Jack! This theme really cleaned the place up. I really like the open look and feel of Thesis. Will be checking it out for some of my other blogs.

Yeah I’ve had my eye on Thesis for a while. it certainly has a light fresh atmosphere – altho’ you still have that annoying pop up along the bottom of the screen,

Grrr!

I really like thesis although I’m still dithering about Revolution…

Alex, Thanks for reminding me to get rid of that slider. Campaign was over already anyway lol!

No guarantees it might not come back – but I will make it prettier if so!

I’m using Thesis on a couple of my blogs and highly recommend it to non-geeks :) It’s amazing how fast you can be up and running :)

I thought I was the only one that got bored with my themes.

I change them almost as often as my clothes. Well, okay, maybe not that often. :-) But I’m always on the lookout for great themes.

I’m just trying out a new one, so when I get bored of that one I’ll definitely give Thesis a shot. Thanks for the recommendation.

This really is a great looking theme – clean and refreshing and a great concept! Can see exactly why you would want to put all your clients on it.

Thesis certainly looks interesting, simple yet effective. I’m planning make a static wordpress site with the design. We’ll see how it goes :)

Can you believe that for a second I felt bad for the designer I paid to design a few of my sites? I kind of don’t want her to see that I may change them up — rather soon. I am always looking for cleaner code and honestly I like how your site opened up. I think I’ll give it a try as well.
