7 Blog Promotion Tips From The Devil

by Jack Humphrey on Feb 17

  1. Blog about what everyone else is blogging about in your niche.  In fact, just post everyone else’s posts to your blog and call it a day.devil
  2. Try not to post regularly.  Be unpredictable and hard to pin down.
  3. Don’t network with other bloggers.  It only drags down your server when you get links from popular places on the web.
  4. Reply to people who comment on your blog with something snarky and condescending.  They’ll think you’re smarter than they are.
  5. Optimize your posts for Google by repeating your main keyword every chance you get.  In fact, make a post with nothing but your favorite keyword.
  6. Don’t give away valuable information on your blog.  Rather, tease people with a solution to a problem, but don’t include the details until they pay you for them.
  7. Don’t bother keeping up with all the news and people in your niche.  Make your own news and try to guess what your target readers are really interested in.

30 minutes into Dean’s presentation, I see the tweet. How did I know this was coming, LOL.

You know … all devil seo aside …. a very wise man taught that in order to find out what something is, you must understand what it is not.

I would worry about the rise in devil worship among blog marketers … but then again, you have to wonder where all the soulless product pushing spammers come from :)

Martin Malden Internet Marketing Tips Feb 17 at 5:58 am

Brilliant, Jack, superb…

But you forgot a few:

8. Make sure you put up ‘read my latest post’ tweets every 2 minutes on Twitter

9. Make sure your Twitter feed is somehow corrupted so that you end up incessantly pinging the same test message in batches of 6 at a time.

10. Criticise and condemn every other blog in your niche on every social site you can find.

(This could become a very long list – I think you’ve started a viral post here..!)

Cheers,

Martin.

Hahaha…oh god! Yeah, I listened to that webinar this morning Jack with Dean Hunt. You said you were going to try it out in your next post.

That was awesome….what a great post!
I loved it…

That post got me thinking about how Holly and I should promote the Honest Marketing Movement as well….

There was some great insights in the interview!

Thanx Jack..that made my day..

The Devil forgot one. Post comments that say “I like your blog, Dude”

Ray Gulick Feb 17 at 7:05 am

Great little post, Jack! I’m amazed at how often bloggers choose spam or blast-promotion tactics, which completely undermines the cultivation of value and trust: short-term thinking run amok. Thanks for gathering these “evil” practices into one easy-to-remember list.

Jack,
I’ll keep this short. It’s nice to see that you have already implemented a couple of the top tips from the webinar you did with Dean Hunt.

If someone as switched on as you to utilising the power of the crowd has already implemented Dean’s ideas, it is a clear indication that they must be very powerful, and we should all take note, and implement them in our own niches.

Cheers.

WoW – excellent Jack, you are the apprentice of the day – taking up great ideas immediately.
And what happens? The magic number motivates readers to add and to continue the fun list.
I wonder how many of my readers who I invited to the recorded webinar will recognize the 7 devilish tips in the FTR they have access to on the side bar.

Jack Humphrey Feb 17 at 7:26 pm

Mara – I’m not done yet! I’m stealing all of the ideas in the webinar. You’ll recognize them all as I put them up. :)

Roy’s comment was spot on! That one thing ‘one liners, means nothing, just wanted a backlink’ kind of post must be the minions own aggravation.

Sorry I missed the webinar. Jack your posts hit my email like miniature bombs and I never miss reading them through, thanks much for the ongoing tips (and kick in the pants) to becoming a better marketer and business woman. Appreciate it.

Nice Jack,
That was an awesome webinar with Dean yesterday. You guys made it fun and entertaining :-)
Hope this helps everyone find a new excitement in blogging

Chris Lang Feb 18 at 11:32 am

Just in case some of you don’t know me, my “one liners” here were references to the last year Jack, David and I have spent together on SMC. Inside joke. I don’t need to spam Jack’s blog for links and I never will.

Jack and David both hopefully laughed as much as I did writing them. I wonder if David has commented on his on comments again there too. I would chime in with my own SMC dry wit but I don’t have all day…..

Besides I have my own crosses to bare…. Damn Digg mafia is everywhere.

Jeff Baas from Start Online Business Feb 18 at 2:10 pm

Fortunately, I haven’t had the misfortune of visiting too many blogs that follow those suggestions (although I occasionally am guilty of posting irregularly on mine).

I think that a lot of those who misuse their blogs either can’t or won’t accept the fact that you get out what you put in to your blog. You don’t get value back from your readers unless you put value in.

Kevin Feb 18 at 8:02 pm

Great post, and great tips there my friend! The devil wouldn’t lead us astray, he wants us to succeed in every way. Didn’t he create the internet after all? I’m off to make my Keyword posts now. I think I’ll make a few of them so Google will really pick up on my site, I’m new at this blogging biz. Thanks mate for conferring with the dark lord, most people wouldn’t have the sack!

#8. Don’t under any circumstances, take a stand on anything, appeal to the masses, keep it all vanilla.

#9. Your words are important, tell them what you want them to know. Do not distract readers with photos, podcasts, interactivity or heaven’s forbid, a video. They are all too technical and diifficult for you to learn.

#10 Rewrite the same content like crazy. Better yet pay someone $3.00 for a 500 word article and post it.
